TBInv LAN Installation Instructions
Requirements:
District:- 1GHz Pentium PC or equivalent. The Access application is constrained by processor speed, so faster is much better. Desktop PCs with 3ghz processors are very cost effective now.
- 256mb RAM. 1gb of faster DDR memory improves performance.
- Two 20gb or larger 7200 rpm IDE hard drives. The second drive will be used as a backup.
- CDROM. A CDRW drive is preferred for off-site backups.
- Two 100 Base-T network adapters. One is connected to internet and is one connected to district LAN.
- 100 megabit/sec connection to the district LAN. Avoid slow hubs or switches between the server and users.
- 128 megabit/sec or faster connection to internet with a fixed IP address. Internet users will be constrained by bandwidth so more throughput is better.
- Printer for transfers and reports. A 16pg/min laser printer is ideal.
- Windows 2000 Pro. Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 or 2003 Server are also acceptable.
- Access 2000 or Office 2000. Access 2002 or 2003 are also acceptable. We can also support running Access 97 or Access 97 and Access 2xxx in a mixed environment.
- Symantec PC Anywhere for remote troubleshooting. (optional)
- Norton Ghost to make image backups of the server. (optional)
- Software firewall such as ISS BlackIce Protection or ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm Pro or a router. (required for web version only)
- Norton Antivirus or equivalent, updated at least weekly. (optional)
- 500mhz Pentium PC or equivalent. Access application is constrained by processor speed, so faster is better.
- Windows 95/98/ME/2000 or XP.
- 64mb RAM for Windows 95/98. 128mb RAM for Windows ME/2000 or XP. 256mb improves performance.
- Microsoft Access 2000. Access 2002, 2003, 97, Office 2000, XP, 2003 or 97 or runtime are acceptable.
- Connection to district LAN. Throughput should be 100 megabits/sec for best performance.
- Dial-up internet connection. Broadband connection improves performance.
- Browser. Current version of Internet Explorer or equivalent Linux or Mac browser.
